Laurent Gilbert, Ph.D. is in charge of L’Oréal Sustainable Innovation program for R&I.
Mr. Gilbert holds a Doctorate in Physical Sciences from the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Saint-Cloud and a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Paris-Sud.
After his thesis in Organic Chemistry, Laurent Gilbert joined Rhône Poulenc where he worked in various fields, from the synthesis of key intermediates for new actives, to process development, and business development before moving to the United States, where he ran Rhodia’s US Corporate Research Center for three years.
In 2002, Dr. Gilbert joined L’Oréal as Director of the International Raw Materials Department. He assumed global responsibility for the development of all new ingredients coming either from external collaborations or those developed internally, as well as responsibility for the Material Sciences laboratories. In 2011 he took the responsibility for the international development of Advanced Research.
Currently, Laurent Gilbert is leading the team in charge of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development and coordinating the implementation of the sustainable innovation commitments of the group as part of its Sharing Beauty with All programs.
