Martijn is a serial entrepreneur from the US West Coast who has built a number of successful companies in software, mobile and digital media after completing his MBA at Harvard. When he came back to the Netherlands he decided to focus his energy on transitioning the world from a“take, make, dispose”linear economy to a circular economy in which materials can be upcycled and reused. Martijn: “For each installation we build we save more CO2 than 1 million trees can consume – a huge positive environmental benefit”
Black Bear has raised over Euro 25m to build the first facility in the Netherlands is part of the Cleantech 100 and plans to roll-out globally. The output of these plants is a high quality raw material (carbon black) than can be used for new tires, ink, coatings and plastics. The company has more than 30 customers and recently announced a partnership with AkzoNobel. Black Bear is now looking for partners and financing for the global roll-out.
