Stahl strongly believes in taking a leading role in achieving a more transparent and sustainable supply chain by stimulating cooperation between its stakeholders. Michael’s focus in this role is on implementing Stahl’s sustainability strategy. This means working closely with internal and external stakeholders to promote transparency in order to reduce the environmental footprint of the industry and ensure corporate social responsibility is prioritized. He also presents the company’s case to customers, brands, industry associations, NGO’s and universities. Michael is a member of the Executive Committee of the Leather Working Group, which focusses on environmental stewardship, and is active in raising awareness about restricted substance compliance initiatives like the ZDHC Foundation.
Michael has a broad experience in the chemical industry in a variety of positions. In 1988, he joined Stahl USA as a process chemist and occupied commercial and management positions in the coatings and polymers industry, in different companies, before becoming Stahl’s Director of Sustainability in 2015.
Michael holds a BSc in Chemistry from The University College, Dublin, Ireland, and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
