MicroByre domesticates wild bacteria that don’t run on the glucose standard. Traditional biomanufacturing is limited to non-model organisms that cannot be directly genetically engineered and model organisms that are drastically unsuited to commodity chemical production, both of which tend to be fed the same agricultural sugars humans eat. MicroByre focuses on economically viable fermentation from non-agricultural foodstocks by taming and genetically manipulating previously untapped bacteria.
