Remy is a chemist by training and spent 12+ years in innovation driven undertakings. After his studies at EPFL, he joined BASF in Shanghai as a graduate intern to work on the development of skin-lightening compounds. Following this experience, he returned to Switzerland to pursue his PhD studies in Biochemistry at ETH Zürich, where he developed strong entrepreneurial skills and won a number of prizes. Furthermore, he was awarded a fellowship of the Swiss parliament to advise parliamentarians on environmental bills. This experience taught him the foundations of policy-making, strengthened his network and exposed him to the major issues in the field. It is the ambition to have a global impact that led Remy to found Bloom, a startup based on the most efficient method to valorise biomass. Since 2017, Remy is fully dedicated to develop a renewable and cost-competitive source of building blocks for the chemical industry.
